Spareribs with Sauerkraut

10 minutes prep / 2-8 hours cooking
serves 4

couple pounds country style ribs
1 package sauerkraut in the refridgerated section
salt and pepper to taste
3/4 cup water

1. Liberally season the ribs with salt and pepper. Brown the ribs on all sides in a frying pan over medium high heat. Drain the sauerkraut.
2. If using stovetop: Place all ribs in a large pot or dutch oven. Put sauerkraut on top of ribs. Add water. Cover. Simmer for 1.5 - 2 hours.
3. If using crockpot: Place ribs in the crockpot. Put sauerkraut on top of ribs. Add water. Cover. Cook on low for about 8 hours.
4. Delicious served with homemade applesauce and potato pancakes!
