Sugar Cookies

serves Makes 8 dozen cookies

flour |

| 2 teaspoons |
baking powder |

| 2 teaspoons |
salt |

| 1.5 cups |
butter |
|
| 2 cups |
sugar |
|
| 2 tablespoons |
grated orange rind |
May use 2 tablespoons vanilla |

Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream butter; add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and orange rind. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Chill overnight. |

Rool dough out on a lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate with sugar. |

Bake in a hot oven (400 degrees) for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool on wire racks. |
