Monte Cristo Sandwiches

ham |

swiss |

egg |
|
| splash |
milk |
|
| |
mustard |
honey or dijon |

jam |

syrup |

Beat the egg with the milk. |

Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat. |

Make two sandwiches: on one slice of bread, spread mustard. Then layer the ham and swiss. Spread some jam on the other slice of bread and place on top of the sandwich. |

Soak each sandwich in the egg mixture. Fry in the pan until the cheese melts, about 5 minutes. Serve with additional jam or syrup. |
